Arundel High School will host the Clint Gosnell Memorial boys lacrosse tournament on April 18th and April 20th. We have partnered this tournament with the “Life and Breath” foundation to help raise awareness and funds for research against the deadly disease sarcoidosis. The mission and goals of this foundation read:
“The Life and Breath Foundation’s mission is to provide the Sarcoidosis community with the vital resources needed to manage their care and to offer a supportive environment where they can be empowered.”
Our primary goals are:
- to offer the sarcoidosis community effective tools to track their journey, decipher medical issues and maximize their quality of life
- to provide a nurturing environment for those affected by Sarcoidosis to share their experiences and
- to build more awareness within the medical community to help combat this chronic disease.
Coach Gosnell suffered from sarcoidosis for more than 30 years and it ultimately took his life. Two junior varsity games and 2 varsity games will be played on both days with action beginning at 3 pm on the 18th and 10 am on the 20th. The games will feature Arundel, Southern, Makos (NC), and Urbana high schools and a five dollar admission charge will be collected on both days of the tournament. Donations will be collected at a featured table throughout both days of the tournament. Informational pamphlets about this awful disease will also be available.
The “Life and Breath” Foundation is also hosting the “Clint Gosnell Memorial 5K run” named in honor of Coach Gosnell on April 27th at DeJon Vineyard in Hydes, MD (click on the following link to view flyer for the event: Take a Breath for Sarcoidosis flyer). This running event is also being hosted with the goal of raising both awareness and research funds for the fight against sarcoidosis. Arundel’s “Athletic Leadership Council” will be volunteering at the race! For registration information please click on the link below:
