Arundel High School is excited to announce the hiring of Bobby Baur as the next Head Coach of their boys’ lacrosse program. Athletic Director Kevin Necessary stated that “Coach Baur has embraced the great tradition of Arundel Athletics and has established himself as a leader in our community. We are looking forward to the great opportunities that Coach Baur will provide for all of our student athletes in the lacrosse program.”
Bobby Baur grew up in the Bel Air area of Harford County, Maryland. He attended Bel Air High School where he was a four-year varsity letter winner for the Bobcats. He served as captain his senior year and was named to the All-County Team. After graduating from Bel Air High School in 2006, he attended Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. Baur was a four-year letter winner for the Shoremen and served as a team captain his senior year. Baur graduated from Washington College in the spring of 2010.
Post-graduation, Baur served a long-term substitute teacher for both Harford County Public Schools and Baltimore City Public Schools, teaching Mathematics. He was an assistant coach for the 2011 season with the Bel Air High School boys’ varsity lacrosse team. He then earned a full-time teaching position in Harford County Public Schools at C. Milton Wright High School where he had been an assistant coach on the boys’ varsity lacrosse team for a year. Baur was an assistant coach for the Mustangs from 2012 to 2016.
In the fall of 2016, Baur started teaching at Arundel High School as a Technology Education teacher and was also named as a varsity boys lacrosse assistant coach. He continues to teach and hold the position of Technology Education Department Chair at Arundel. He served as a varsity assistant coach for the 2017 and 2018 spring seasons with the Wildcats. In the spring of 2018, Baur was named the Assistant Coach of the Year by the Anne Arundel County public school boys lacrosse coaches.
