Gambrills, MD – April 3, 2018 – Arundel High School is excited to announce the hiring of Nicole McWilliams as Head Coach of the Arundel Wildcats girls’ soccer program. This position was previously held by long–time coach, Laura Coe, who announced her retirement in December. Coach Mc Williams looks to build on the long history of success of the girls’ soccer program with hopes of becoming a perennial county, region and state championship contender. “My goal is to develop confident athletes that not only reach their full athletic potential, but also become active and productive members of the community” said McWilliams. “I want to help them as individuals reach all of their goals. Whether they want to play soccer in college, coach, referee, or just learn more about the game, our program will offer them every opportunity to succeed.”
Coach McWilliams comes to Arundel after spending the 2017 season serving as the head coach at Indian Creek School in Crownsville, Maryland. She is a graduate of Bowie High School where she starred on the varsity soccer team for 4 seasons. She went on to continue her career at the Division 1 level as a starter for Radford University. She also coaches a variety of teams for Maryland United FC throughout the year.
Arundel High School’s Athletic Director, Kevin Necessary, is excited for the knowledge and passion that Coach McWilliams brings to the program. “Coach McWilliams clearly demonstrated both the soccer knowledge and passion for the game that we were looking for during our coaching search. She also showed the interview committee that she values the high school athletic experience and is committed to building a strong team culture that is not only focused on winning, but also making lasting and positive memories for our student athletes. We are excited to have Coach McWilliams join the Wildcat family.”
